Bairavaa movie review

Verdict: A festival enjoyable entertainer with a strong message

Rating: 2.5 /5
Ilayathalapathy Vijay is back after his blockbuster Theri and this time with his “Azhagiya Tamil Magan” director Bharathan with the film “Bairavaa” . This film have Keerthy Suresh in female lead role and Satish, Aparna Vinod, Jagapathi Babu, Daniel Balaji,Thambhi ramiah plays supporting role.
This film have two biggest positives. One in the form of Ilayathalapathy Vijay where he rocks on screen with superb charm and screen presence. His mass presence is terrific and he is able to completely hold the film under his control till the end. Another positive of the film is the strong content which talks about medical college corruption and also highlights the problems faced by women in our society. Director Bharathan should be credited for highlighting such important factors in this film. Keerthy Suresh has a solid role in this film and she shines through with dynamic performance. Comic scenes from Satish and Thambi Ramiah have worked well.
First half screenplay is rapid while the second half lags a bit. Trimming the film for 15-20 minutes could help the film. Editing by Praveen.K.L is crisp in first half but completely opposite in the latter. Cinematography by Sukumar is the backbone of the film and the cinematography along with stunts elevate the mass factor of Vijay. Music by Santosh Narayanan is good at some places but average in others. Visuals of the song “Nillayo” is beautiful and innovative but the others songs lack the punch in both visuals and music. Background score by Santosh Narayanan is massy but sounds repetitive and lacks innovation.
Overall, Bairavaa is a perfect treat to watch in Pongal to get complete enjoyment. The film also provides a social insight about the private medical colleges. A film which is to be enjoyed and celebrated and a message which is to be followed.
